Part 3 – How To Make $50k/Week w/Simple Postcard Projects

by Matt Trainer on April 8, 2009

In part 3 of this video series Luke lays out exactly how to do your own postcard project including how to source and create products.

Plus you’ll hear an interview with Kurt, another of Luke’s students doing REALLY well with using Luke’s system.

Kurt works from home with his wife and has no employees.

Here’s the best part; Last year Kurt made $2.6 million!

Luke interviews Kurt and details how you can do the same thing.
Good stuff.

As always, give me some feedback!
Talk soon,

Love your content, and your teaching. This is very interesting. I did own my own offline small business for 4 years and this is Direct Mail marketing which was a huge NO-NO before (1% return on DM), but this guy is succeeding. Got ONE BIG QUESTION…..What is the Investment Capital first time out for this…??????

Edit from Matt:
Great question!
It’s incredibly cheap to get started. It can be done for $500-$1000
though you will get a bit better results with more money invested.

Does Luke employ any upselling with his marketing?

Edit from Matt:
Absolutely! That’s where the real money is!
But Luke always makes his projects do better than 100% ROI
on the FRONT END before even beginning to work on the backend.

Don’t miss the power of that.

Using Luke’s estimates in video #1 (12% call and 11% of these convert) what’s the ballpark product price point for campaign break even? I’m wondering if postcard marketing might be a good lead generation mechanism for finding qualified prospects to sell products/services costing thousands of dollars?

Edit from Matt:
The higher the price point the less you have to sell to break even.
It’s tough to make anything less than $59 make a good return on the front end without going negative.

Higher price points are easier to make a great return but more salesmanship comes into play.
There’s always a trade-off. The course goes into extreme detail on these points.

Hope that helps.

Hey Matt, great videos!

Quick question: Do you think high quality PLR products could simply be converted to physical products for this model?

This has me thinking of all types of possibilities! I already know how to create products as well as take high quality PLR products and put a new spin on them.

I find the key points that are missing and add them, then just hire a writer to rewrite them to make them top notch.

I could create tons of products quite easily if they could work for this model.

What do you think?

Edit from Matt:
Absolutely! You are definitely on the right track.
We teach about that extensively in the course!
It’s actually one of Luke’s specialties!

Thanks for the great question.

Hey Matt, great videos!
Really getting to like your style of delivery. l am in UK so l’m kinda of thinking l might have to adjust/modify some of the stuff or source from other suppliers. But one crazy idea is, just like www is global why not the do the same for this biz model; ie sell in USA
from UK? Like your thoughts on that please

Regards
Martin

Edit from Matt:
You are dead on. Luke has several students from the UK (and other countries as well) that are doing great with his system.
They sell to the US market just like you are thinking.
Great question!

Hi Matt,

Love your videos, like always…

I think you mentioned that you tested some CPA offers lately with Luke’s Postcard system, right? If so, how about the results? Will you cover “CPA marketing with postcard” in the course?

Thanks!

Edit from Matt:
Yes, we will absolutely cover CPA marketing with postcards in detail in the course.

I have not tested it yet. I’m going to very soon.
CPA is just like any other product so I know it will work.
You just have to have the right price point and test it!

Great idea to go back to postcards, can’t wait for the course.

Hey Matt I’m really excited about this course!
Question, I know Luke doesn’t know anything about websites but wouldn’t this business be better if the customer had a choice to purchase the product by phone or online? So the postcard would have a phone number and a web address for purchasing. Also the nextmark site gives you the email address along with the postal address isn’t this a cheap way to generate your own email list too for $95/month? The PLR products to physical products light- bulb rang off when i was looking at this video also..
-Garrett

Edit from Matt:
Yeah Luke and I have both tested postcard traffic going to websites and it definitely works.
You can make it work very well.

But the interesting thing is that websites convert WAY worse than a human in a call center.
We’ve tested both extensively.

As for the question about optin email lists; Yes you can email those people but you have to be VERY careful doing that.
The CAN-SPAM act is not joke and must me complied with. As long as you follow that and use a high-delivery email service it will work.
We will talk about that in the course as well.

Awesome videos so far!

Surely Luke has tested sending people directly to a website salespage vs calling a phone number, correct?

If so, does he get the same results? If not, why not?

Edit from Matt:
I answered this question just above this one already.
There are many reasons why that we will discuss in the
course but the main reason is that a website can only
say one thing and only in one way.

A person on the phone can answer questions and handle
objections on the fly. Plus it’s easier to leave a website
than hang up on a person. Phone orders will ALWAYS
convert way better than a static website for those reasons
and many others.

Postcard are great …. IF you do them the right way.

One key which has been emphasized is LIST SELECTION, without this key you will be throwing $$$ right down the drain. That’s why having someone show you the ropes is great. I was able to easily generate close to 12% on some postcards I sent to a highly targeted list. But have also been sub 1%.

Love the videos. Looking forward to more.

Edit from Matt:
Yes you are 99% right. The key you are missing is list TESTING not selection.
With proper testing, list selection becomes a lot less important.

It’s definitely all in the list. But if you test the lists AND test the right way,
it’s simple to make huge returns.

We devote a HUGE section of the course to list selection and testing since
it is so critical. In fact, this is the biggest part of the course.
Thanks for watching the videos!
